וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֗ד וַיִּקְרָא֙ אֶל־מַעַרְכֹ֣ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֔ם לָ֥מָּה תֵצְא֖וּ לַעֲרֹ֣ךְ מִלְחָמָ֑ה הֲל֧וֹא אָנֹכִ֣י הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֗י וְאַתֶּם֙ עֲבָדִ֣ים לְשָׁא֔וּל בְּרוּ־לָכֶ֥ם אִ֖ישׁ וְיֵרֵ֥ד אֵלָֽי׃
Und er stand auf und schrie zu den Heeren Israels und sprach zu ihnen: 'Warum kommt ihr heraus, um euren Kampf in Ordnung zu bringen? Bin ich nicht ein Philister und ihr Diener Sauls? wähle dir einen Mann für dich und lass ihn zu mir herabkommen.
